The book "An Enhanced Medium Access Control Protocol for Ad Hoc Networks" offers a comprehensive analysis and improvement of the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol for ad hoc networks. Ad hoc networks are widely used due to their cost-effective and flexible applications in various fields. The efficiency of these networks heavily relies on the performance of the MAC protocol employed. This work presents a novel MAC protocol that addresses the challenges of hidden and exposed nodes. It enables hidden nodes to transmit data while exposed nodes can receive without disrupting ongoing transmissions in their vicinity. This innovation leads to improved channel utilization and surpasses the performance of the IEEE 802.11 DCF MAC protocol in terms of throughput and packet delivery ratio, while keeping the additional control overhead minimal.
