Please note that this title mainly consists of content that is available for free on the internet. Andrzej Hulanicki (December 25, 1933, in Poznań; March 23, 2008) was a Polish mathematician. Shortly before the outbreak of World War II in 1939, Andrzej Hulanicki's father received a position in Baniocha near Warsaw, where he and his mother survived the war. His father was arrested by the Germans for the illegal production of machine parts and was taken to the Auschwitz concentration camp, where he lost his life. In 1946, his mother moved with him to Wrocław, where he completed his high school diploma and studied mathematics until 1955. He earned his doctorate in 1960 under Stanisław Hartman at the Polish Academy of Sciences and completed his habilitation there three years later. He was awarded the title of professor in 1969.
