This set of 15 views from Greece by Edward Dodwell (1767-1832) vividly and colorfully depicts the 19th-century world in Hellas and is an ideal gift for philhellenes. Edward Dodwell was one of the pioneers who traveled through Greece, then still under Ottoman rule, in the years 1801, 1805, and 1806. In his picture book 'Views in Greece', he primarily focuses on ancient Greece but also sketches Greece in the early 19th century. His colored aquatints, which served as motifs for the postcards, showcase not only ancient Hellenic buildings but also various places and scenes from everyday life at that time. Among the most well-known works of the Irish writer and antiquarian Dodwell is 'Classical and Topographical Tour through Greece', published in London in 1818, and in German in 1821 ('Classische und topographische Reise durch Griechenland während der Jahre 1801, 1805 und 1806').
