Product details
Every year, up to 11,400 new cases of cancer of the oral cavity and throat are diagnosed in Germany. In recent years alone, there has been a 25% increase in the incidence of tumours in the head and neck area. This type of cancer is often associated with major restrictions in everyday life. In addition to social impairments, in most cases there are major limitations in the ability to speak and swallow, known as dysglossia and dysphagia. In speech therapy practice, people with oral cavity cancer are a relatively new field of work that has not yet become established in everyday working life. For this reason, the scope of speech therapy interventions will be explained in more detail in this paper and illustrated using a case study.
