The author Gustav Moritz Wustmann (1844 - 1910) was a philologist, language custodian, and historian. During his time as the head of the Leipzig City Archive and the municipal library, Wustmann published numerous scientifically grounded yet easily readable books and essays on the history of the city. Regarding the quality of his regional and urban historical writings, his publications are widely recognized as fundamental sources for the history of Leipzig and its surroundings.
