The book "City, Neighborhood & Household Level Factors in Residential Energy Use" provides a comprehensive analysis of the factors that influence energy consumption in residential buildings. It is based on a thorough review of 34 years of literature (1981-2015) and identifies 147 factors categorized into three levels – city, neighborhood, and household – as well as four categories – environmental, physical, socioeconomic, and appliances. The study highlights that much of the existing research on household-level energy consumption does not take into account the impacts of city and neighborhood factors, which can lead to ineffective outcomes. By analyzing the significant factors in relation to various study conditions, a comprehensive directory is created to serve as a guide for future research in the field of energy consumption.
