Computer simulations have established themselves as an important tool for gaining insights alongside theory and experimentation in science. The knowledge gained through simulations also influences other areas of society such as politics, economics, and the public sphere. Dirk Scheer examines, using the example of geological CO2 capture and storage, how politically relevant scientific simulations are processed in political decision-making processes. Through a theoretical-conceptual analysis, the aim is to achieve a better and more nuanced understanding of simulation-based communication processes and their impact on politics. Additionally, empirical patterns of information reception and processing among political and societal decision-makers will be identified.
