Jörg Böckem led a double life for many years between journalism and heroin addiction. His book 'Let Me Survive the Night' became a bestseller. In his second book, he describes different paths to addiction—experiences, fears, and hopes—and sometimes ways out as well. He shares stories and fates of other people that tell of exclusion and self-destruction, of alcoholism, eating disorders, and drug addiction. For those affected, it is often very difficult to openly confront the illness. In the last chapter, Böckem gives voice to a scientist and therapist who advocates for a non-judgmental perspective on drugs and intoxication.
