In 2010, the Ruhr area will be the European Capital of Culture. Preparations are already in full swing. The Ruhr.2010 GmbH was specifically established to organize this unique event, working in collaboration with the municipal cultural offices of the Ruhr area to design the program. Public relations for the event explicitly fall within the responsibilities of Ruhr.2010 GmbH. Based on the thesis that medium-sized companies - and Ruhr.2010 can be considered as such - do not communicate sufficiently, the dissertation aims to determine whether this thesis applies to Ruhr.2010 GmbH. As part of a scientific survey, tools of corporate communication were to be identified. If such tools exist, the initial thesis would be disproven. After conducting 52 interviews with open questions, the results were categorized and analyzed. While the overall result was anticipated, its clarity was still surprising. The book presents the current state of corporate communication and provides insights into opinions and preparations for the year 2010 in the Ruhr area.
