The present work deals with the career choice process of adolescents with learning disabilities and the influence of parents. The fact that parents play a significant role in their children's career choice process is beyond question in the existing literature. However, how this influence manifests in detail has been scarcely researched. This study aims to fill that gap. The theoretical foundation is based on the overall model by Herzog et al. (2006) and the included phase model, as well as a modified influence model that is oriented towards the explanations of Gessner (2003), who distinguishes between implicit and explicit influence. Interviews were conducted with both adolescents and their parents to explore the influence in the career choice process. The results showed a positive influence of parents, particularly in the areas of 'social determinants', 'assessment of career choice', 'role model', and 'economic determinants'. A particularly negative influence was evidenced regarding the 'choice of previous school type'.
