Product details

The Death of Michelangelo: A series of poems in this collection is dedicated to the theme of 'Art and Artists': Touching marble like Michelangelo, on the scaffolding in the Sistine Chapel, reflections on the fascinating works of painter Edvard Munch follow. Poems about literary giants take us back to the time of Goethe: The young Hölderlin raves about Schiller and fatally overlooks a famous guest. Herder struggles with the 'Dioscuri' and delivers monologues in a difficult hour. J. M. R. Lenz, once friends with Goethe, feels abandoned by him and the world. An excursion into the world of thinkers: Kant searches, during a walk, in vain for the 'thing-in-itself'. Fichte gets hopelessly lost in the labyrinth of thoughts - not even coffee helps - and Schopenhauer simply cannot shake off the 'unspeakable Hegel'. Reflective and contemplative poems focus on people who are often overlooked or exploited: Old Man, Street Painter, The Blind Man, One Night in Bangkok. Critical tones are struck by texts on Christmas commercialism and arms trade. The circle closes again in the Killesberg Heights Park: Now it is nature that reaches for the color palette. It draws water from a pond, and trees create nuances in the reflection.
