The textbook "Design of a Protection Scheme for a Distribution Network" offers a comprehensive analysis and solution to the challenges that arise when integrating distributed generators into a radially structured distribution network. In particular, it addresses the example of the Trans Amadi 33 kV radial distribution network in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The book discusses the issues of coordinating protection systems that arise from the bidirectional flow of energy when additional energy sources are fed into the network. An innovative protection scheme is presented, based on the coordinated operation of relay-controlled reclosers and sectionalizers. Additionally, the role of fault current limiters in enhancing network stability and safety is examined. The results demonstrate how improved coordination can be achieved, both with and without distributed generators.
