Mercury is a toxic metal that poses significant health risks and is considered a global environmental pollutant. This publication presents an innovative method for chemical vapor generation in alkaline solution, enabling detection through atomic absorption spectroscopy. The authors optimize the chemical parameters and continuous analysis flow to ensure high precision and accuracy. The results indicate that the detection limit for both mercury species is 0.485 mcg/L, with a recovery rate between 91% and 101%. This methodology represents a practical alternative to conventional methods, as it minimizes elaborate sample preparations while providing high accuracy and freedom from interference.
