This work deals with German-speaking authors in exile. The history of these German exiles is illustrated through the life of Thomas Mann. Before World War II, he had to leave his homeland, like many other scholars, writers, artists, and many more people. This writer is considered one of the most significant authors in German literature. He lived a long life during which he created many interesting works and delivered numerous important lectures. Particularly interesting is the fact that he changed his citizenship three times during his life - he was German, Czechoslovak, and American - and at the end of his life, he still wanted to become Swiss. However, he did not become Swiss, but died in Switzerland as a citizen of the USA. A part of my work describes the relationship between Thomas Mann and the city of Prosec.
