Since the 1980s, management gurus and their management trends have influenced managers and employees in organizations. One possible reason for their great success is considered to be the charisma of these management gurus. Especially in times of business uncertainty and strong competition, managers often turn to charismatic individuals for inspiration and guidance. A central factor here is persuasive rhetoric. But what kind of rhetoric do management gurus use to captivate their audiences and readers? The author provides an overview of the management guru phenomenon and charismatic leadership, highlighting rhetoric as a key aspect in the development of charisma. To illustrate this rhetoric, she examines the management gurus Michael Hammer and Stephen Covey, analyzing their charismatic rhetoric and revealing whether and how these gurus manage to achieve a similar development of charisma despite using different rhetorical techniques. The book is aimed at managers, decision-makers with personnel responsibility, and politicians.
