Product details
The Alexander Ecker Collection, a large anthropological collection, is currently owned by the University of Freiburg. Its namesake, Alexander Ecker, is regarded as the most significant promoter of the early beginnings of the discipline of anthropology in Germany. His successor, Eugen Fischer, also played an important role in the care and expansion of the collection, along with other collectors, curators, institute directors, and scientific networks. Daniel Möller reconstructs key sections of the collection's development and consolidation from numerous predecessor collections between 1850 and 1960. He analyzes the collecting practices and the loss of collection components, along with accompanying documentation, due to both World Wars, thereby making an important contribution to the history of the Freiburg skull and skeleton collection.
