Cross-border activities have significantly increased in recent decades. The author, Alexandros Nikolaidis, explores such transnational phenomena that have crucially shaped both (new) Greek identity and the modern Greek nation-state. Therefore, the author views Greek post-war migration to Germany as a transnational migration movement that led to the emergence of a 'transnational social space' between Greece and Germany. The examination of this interaction between Germany and Greece outlines the transformation process of the Greek community into a transnational diaspora within the European Union. Thus, the focus is on the Greek student movement and the 'school issues' faced by children of Greek migrants in Germany. This is further supported by an empirical study on the case of the Greek student community in Bochum.
