The Incoherence of the Philosophers (completed in early 1095) is the philosophical main work of al-Ghazālī. In 20 chapters, he subjects the fundamental concepts of his philosophical contemporaries and predecessors to critical examination and rejects the absolutist claims of their supposedly irrefutable conclusions. In doing so, he creates an impressive synthesis of critical thinking and the defense of religious claims.
