The book "Does Economic Growth Translate to Employment Generation in The Gambia?" by Richard Gómez examines the relationship between economic growth and job creation in The Gambia. It analyzes the extent to which economic growth leads to an improvement in the employment situation, particularly in a context where many developing countries face the phenomenon of "jobless growth." By applying statistical methods such as Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and logistic regression, the likelihood of employment is evaluated based on various geographical and socioeconomic factors. The results indicate that while economic growth in The Gambia does create jobs, not all demographic groups are equally considered. In particular, women, youth, and people with disabilities are disadvantaged in their employment opportunities. This work provides valuable insights for academic research as well as for policymakers.
