The two historians Michael Gehler and Marcus Gonschor provide a well-founded biography of the long-time European politician and former chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Hans-Gert Pöttering. They trace Pöttering's curriculum vitae and political development and pay tribute to his decisive role in building parliamentary structures in the EU. Gehler and Gonschor thus also write an important piece of Christian Democratic, Federal Republic history.
