Solar cells are in higher demand than ever. The market leader remains the crystalline silicon solar cell. However, the raw material silicon is becoming increasingly expensive due to high demand. A good alternative is thin-film solar cells made from CIGS (CuInGaSe2) due to their low raw material usage and high achieved efficiencies. In addition to high efficiency, solar cells are also required to meet high standards for long-term stability. Testing methods that provide insights into long-term behavior must take into account the specific characteristics of the materials used. The following will present automated testing methods and possibilities for the electrical characterization of CIS thin-film solar cells. The thesis consists of creating a suitable test setup, developing specific testing methods for the qualification of solar cells, and evaluating these tests. Key focuses include: automation, lifespan or long-term behavior, light soaking, breakdown behavior, and electrical simulation of a module.
