Erwin Heerich (1922-2004) stands for an art that combines precision and sober mathematical clarity with openness and playful freedom. Sculptures and reliefs by Heerich can be seen in many public spaces in NRW. His architecture, which is harmoniously embedded in the landscape on the island of Hombroich south of Neuss, attracts many visitors every year. After studying at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, Heerich consistently developed his own artistic ideas. He became known in the early 1960s primarily for his small and medium-sized cardboard sculptures. Since then, his work has been recognised as an outstanding and unique artistic position within concrete and minimalist art after 1945. On the occasion of Erwin Heerich's 100th birthday, Museum Schloss Moyland is publishing a comprehensive publication on the artist.
