Michaela Ott, born in 1964, is a professor of aesthetic theories at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg, a philosopher, film scholar, and translator (Foucault, Baudrillard). Her research focuses on aesthetic theories, poststructuralist philosophy, film philosophy, as well as theories of space and affect. Jean Baudrillard, born in 1929 in Reims, was a professor of sociology at the University of Paris-Nanterre from 1968 to 1987 and received the Siemens Media Art Award in 1995. He held the chair of philosophy of cultural and media criticism at the European Graduate School in Saas Fee. Jean Baudrillard passed away in 2007.
