The task of our work is to examine and present the language of fairy tales - particularly with regard to means of expressiveness and emotionality - based on German and Czech fairy tale texts. On one hand, we have chosen older texts that are temporally close in both languages, and on the other hand, we have selected texts from more recent times to describe the expression of older and newer fairy tales. At the same time, we aimed to choose fairy tales of various types. Initially, we would like to focus on a selection from the Children's and Household Tales of the Brothers Grimm. Based on the acquired material, we attempted to capture the different features of the means of expression in this genre in both German and Czech. We approach the analysis of the Czech fairy tales by Karel Jaromír Erben in a similar manner, as both the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm and those of Erben correspond to the older type of fairy tales. Furthermore, we specifically aimed to explore the emotional means of expression in German and Czech authored fairy tales.
