The Berlin Museum Island, located in the heart of Berlin, is the historical center of the city's museum landscape, one of the most important museum complexes in the world and part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Since the five museums were 70 percent destroyed during World War II and only partially renovated in the GDR, Germany began a billion-euro renovation at the turn of the century.
