Currently, tens of thousands of tablet PCs are purchased annually, with a rising trend. These mini-computers are primarily intended as a type of notepad for leisure use: they are smaller, thinner, lighter, and quieter than netbooks and are operated via a touchscreen instead of a keyboard. Tablet PCs can recognize handwritten notes and sketches made with a stylus on the screen. Newer versions also offer dual operating systems, enhanced multimedia features, or internet television.
