The Flex and Flora Reading Book 1 accompanies children through their first year of school. Precisely aligned with the letter progression of the workbooks, the reading book offers differentiated texts at three levels across eight thematic units and four seasonal units, featuring various text types as well as many original texts and reading recommendations for introductory teaching. All texts are consistently printed in syllables, allowing each child to try out a text at a higher level.

Each unit begins with a large, illustrated double entry page. Here, children can discover a lot, providing numerous opportunities for language use. This is followed by the content double pages, which alternately present three texts with the same content but increasing levels of difficulty, along with three thematically different texts under a common heading.
