Product details

The Flight Management System (FMS) is a central element of modern aircraft that controls navigation and assists pilots in executing the flight plan. It allows for adjustments to the flight plan during the flight and utilizes various sensors to determine the aircraft's position. The FMS guides the aircraft along the established flight plan and is typically operated via a small screen and a keyboard. The flight plan information is displayed on various screens such as the Electronic Flight Instrument System (EFIS), the Navigation Display (ND), or the Multi-Function Display (MFD). The development of the modern FMS began with its introduction on the Boeing 767, and today FMS can also be found in smaller aircraft like the Cessna 172. Despite the different sizes and functions that FMS have adopted over time, there are certain common features that all systems share.
