The two Austrian biologists Karl Wilhelm von Dalla Torre (1850 - 1928) and Ludwig von Sarnthein (1861 - 1914) studied the local flora in Tyrol, Vorarlberg, and Liechtenstein at the end of the 19th century. They compiled their own observations as well as the observations and information provided to them about the local plant life in this two-part work. The second volume specifically addresses the algae found in the region. This is a reprint of the long out-of-print original edition from 1901.
