Epidemiology seeks to understand the emergence of health disorders or diseases in order to prevent them. The six master's theses in this book address pressure ulcers, pain, leg ulcers, and tumor-related fatigue (exhaustion). Caregivers, due to their constant interaction with patients, are particularly well-suited to recognize such and other health impairments early, take appropriate measures, or encourage them, as well as support patients in developing adequate self-care competencies. This book provides abundant statistical data on this important field for nursing. Epidemiological methods are also suitable for representing nursing services, for example, through a Nursing Minimum Data Set (NMDS), which can contribute to the foundations for management measures.
