Product details
In Europe, he is hardly known to anyone, unless one is involved in film music or is a musician who has performed one of his works. Franz Waxman was a significant film composer, writing numerous works for this purpose and winning two Oscars for his soundtracks. He created important concert music with works such as the Carmen Fantasy for violin and orchestra, the Sinfonietta for string orchestra and timpani, as well as his vocal works The Song of Terezin and Joshua. This book aims to provide insight into his history and his works, particularly The Song of Terezin. Children's poems that were created during the Nazi era in the Theresienstadt concentration camp form the basis for this impressive, moving, and poignant work.
