Many studies show that poorly designed products can lead to user errors. Therefore, a standard was established, which was later enshrined in law, requiring manufacturers of medical devices to address usability issues early in the development process. This paper provides insight into how users in Austrian hospitals evaluate current medical products in terms of usability and their satisfaction with these products. Furthermore, the paper highlights the frequency of problems encountered while operating the products and examines their causes and consequences. The focus is on infusion pumps, syringe pumps, and patient monitors, as these were notably problematic in previous studies. It was also noteworthy in earlier studies that patient monitors experienced a high number of false alarms, which is why the current situation from the perspective of the users of these monitors is also presented in this work.
