Product details
Little is known about the origins of German comic history, little about the 19th century when our culture was internationally leading in this type of literature, and little about what happened afterward until the end of World War II. The yearbook "German Comic Research" aims to fill these gaps. The series is intended to cover the entire range of German comics and follows the expanded concept of comics as represented by Scott McCloud and the international research group Platinum for some time now. The editor understands comics not only as speech bubble comics but also as their predecessors in the evolution of picture storytelling. Like all cultural expressions, comics have a long, interesting history that spans many centuries. Scientifically meticulous yet still readable, enriched with hundreds of color illustrations, the yearbook "German Comic Research" offers a treasure trove of previously unknown examples of comic history in the German-speaking world.
