Current scientific studies indicate that the dietary behavior of today's generation of children and adolescents is to be regarded as inadequate. In particular, socially disadvantaged individuals are at a higher risk. As a consequence, the entire society is confronted with the complex repercussions. To counteract this, public health projects aim to provide education for all. This paper explores the question of whether it is possible and effective to implement a health promotion program focusing on nutrition at an integrated comprehensive school in a disadvantaged urban area. Various results from surveys and calculations conducted specifically for this study provide an overall picture of the situation. In combination with current findings from the scientific literature, a comprehensive overview is derived at the end, the contents of which can be applied to schools facing similar issues.
