Product details
Paul Scheerbart (1863-1915) is considered one of the great literary eccentrics of the late German Empire. He was friends with Erich Mühsam and Richard Dehmel, among others, and wrote bizarre fantastic stories and novels. Additionally, the author engaged with the emerging modern architecture, particularly the use of glass in construction. Among these groundbreaking texts is the present aphoristic essay dedicated to the architect Bruno Taut, a unique blend of literary vision and utopian architectural theory. Taut, in turn, dedicated his expressionist glass pavilion, built for the 1914 Cologne Werkbund Exhibition, to Scheerbart, which is regarded as one of the foundational works of modern architecture.
