Product details

This book is not one that I had planned for a long time. I did not set out to write a book about the relationship between Christian faith and Zen Buddhism. No, the texts have developed over decades and reflect my spiritual journey.

I have been on a spiritual journey for a long time. I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember. However, my perspective has broadened with my studies in theology. A significant influence has been Meister Eckhart, the master of spirituality. He has become modern again today. Not only for this reason have I given him a larger space in this book. If you understand him, you will not only better grasp the discussion between Christian faith and Zen Buddhism, but also experience a great enrichment for your spiritual life.

I do not know you and do not know how old you are, but still, are we not, you and I, too old to gather around Zen masters, gurus, and authors like youthful groupies around a rock star? To lean on something, because life is not a pony farm? Do we really believe that there is someone out there who has no problems and has all the solutions for our spiritual discomfort? Do we really believe that a book could be more than a stimulus on the path?

No matter how many renowned and distinguished Zen masters stand by us in wise and insightful books or even in person, ultimately we must walk the path ourselves. Ultimately, we are responsible for our lives, which is so self-evident that I must mention it here. "Discover the Zen master within you" is a saying from the spiritual scene. Something like that. And the greatest master is life itself. Crises and losses, disappointments and defeats are more important than successes and victories.
