The term 'Esotericism' has become increasingly common in recent decades; it encompasses a wide range of offerings in the form of esoteric fairs, workshops, books, products, and services, as well as a distinct life philosophy. In our cultural context, this generates significant revenue. Where there is an offering, there is usually also a demand. This study explores the question of who the individuals are that seek these esoteric offerings; can these individuals be represented as an ideal type in Weberian terms, thus forming the social type of 'Homo Esoterikos'? Through a quantitative empirical investigation, individuals who have directly engaged with esoteric offerings were surveyed. The results indicate that these individuals can indeed be characterized as a distinct social type. A departure from traditional ties and their search for new roots leads them, among other things, to esotericism.
