The current business landscape is characterized by an advancing globalization of markets. This poses a challenge not only for large companies but increasingly also for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Due to changing conditions, SMEs are facing growing competitive and adaptation pressures. Against this backdrop, SMEs are increasingly reliant on the quality of their environment to fully seize the opportunities of international engagement and to mitigate risks. The author team therefore focuses on the internationalization of SMEs within the framework of regional value creation systems. In this context, the potential of cluster membership for fostering cooperation and the related internationalization activities is highlighted. In particular, collaborations are emphasized as a form of internationalization to overcome the characteristic weaknesses of SMEs. Consequently, the book is aimed at executives in SMEs, employees of cluster management, as well as relevant lecturers and students.
