Product details
The increasing digitalisation of all areas of life means for companies that IT is increasingly changing from an operational support function to a central value creation process. This makes it necessary for IT to function according to principles similar to those of the core processes of the company. In addition to the previous requirements for stability, security, cost-optimised and reliable operation, a high level of innovation and a high speed of change are required.
The consequences are already visible today in many IT organisations:
- Innovative applications of artificial intelligence or self-learning systems are used as enablers for automation.
- Agile approaches from software development are finding their way into IT project management, IT operations and support. To ensure IT quality and speed of adaptation, previous departmental boundaries are being called into question. In many IT organisations, the departmental boundaries between development (Dev) and operations (Ops) are being overcome with DevOps.
- Traditional architectures and operating models are being replaced by cloud-based solutions. This is associated with organisational and procedural regulations for the provision and management of cloud solutions and services,
- While the importance of highly available, flexible IT operations is increasing, their tasks and responsibilities are changing fundamentally: the actual operation of the IT is receding into the background.
Against this background, the question also arises as to what extent established development and operational frameworks can be used to meet the requirements.
