"I have been writing since I was 19. For myself. Diaries. Whole collections of notes came about. I collected everything. Thoughts, feelings, words, little texts, phrases that came to me, little stories, soliloquies, moods, observations, questions, simply everything ... At some point, meanwhile 52 years old, I was heartbroken and wrote extremely much and intensively. Almost at the same time (!) my TV broke down. That was a challenge. So what to do? I took everything I had ever written and looked through it. A meeting with myself, my life and the people I met. I set to work. Some of it just needed reworking. A lot of things came into being. I wrote every evening for about four months. At some point I read everything and liked it. Then I bought a new TV set ... Andrea Engen's short prose is sometimes drastic, sometimes laconic, sometimes desperate, sometimes winking and amused, but always authentic and precise, recounting moments, encounters and memories from the life of a strong woman. The photographs by Silke Goes give the texts a very personal touch and atmospheric density.
