'Campaign in France' is an autobiographical prose work by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Written between 1819 and 1822, the war memories were first published in 1822. In it, Goethe describes his participation in the campaign of German and Austrian monarchs against Jacobin France, which his homeland's leader, the Duke of Weimar, had requested from his childhood friend Goethe, who was already serving as a Prussian regiment commander in the field.
