Product details

Oscar Ewald (pseudonym, real name: Oskar Ewald Friedländer, 1881 - 1940), an Austro-Hungarian philosopher and private lecturer as well as a leading figure in the Christian direction of religious socialists, writes in the preface to this work: "When I designate this writing as an investigation of the foundations of epistemology and ethics in Kant's system, it is already implied that I believe I am touching on a central point of criticism. The eminently theoretical stance of our philosopher towards the world and humanity necessitates that this point is sought in the function of knowing, not of feeling or willing: and as a further consequence, the relative brevity with which the transition to ethics and aesthetics is presented should be noted, while the vast majority serves to logical discussions." Thus, the author emphasizes the treatment of knowledge as a consequence of ethical and aesthetic feeling. Reprint of the original edition from 1908.
