"Killing in the Name of Honor" is a comprehensive investigation into the practice of honor killings, with a particular focus on Jordan and the associated violations of international human rights laws, especially the rights of women. The book analyzes the connections between violence against women, discrimination, and honor killings, shedding light on the local political conditions in Jordan that discriminate against women and imply state tolerance for such discriminatory acts. It also addresses Jordan's obligations under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and their relationship to honor killings as well as the local laws pertaining to these crimes. This research aims to support the assumption that public and state acceptance of certain cultural and traditional practices is the primary cause of the persistence of harmful traditions such as honor killings.
