For about half a millennium, the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius have given new orientation and strength to the faith consciousness of many people, even in times of enormous upheaval. The aim of this book is to make this instrument of spiritual renewal and deepening accessible to people of our time, so that they can be "salt of the earth" and "light of the world" (Mt 5:14f. ) as "homeless" and "strangers" in a post-Christian cultural environment and live their gospel-orientated spirituality "self-confidently" and proactively. The Christian faith has its immovable foundation in Jesus Christ. Those who have found a personal relationship with him, who remain bound to his gospel and who, together with others, profess him and the way of the gospel, find spiritual identity and a home in the midst of very different secular social milieus.
