The introductory section provides all the information that beginners need: the right choice of knife and wood, easy sharpening techniques, stretching and loosening exercises for the muscles, basic cutting techniques, and most importantly: safety! Of course, carving should only be done with a special protective glove, even if it is not visible in the pictures, as the correct positioning of the wood and the precise placement of the knife are demonstrated step by step.

The book starts with very simple projects like a Christmas angel, a moon face, a unicorn, or a bear made of soap, but also offers templates and ideas for advanced carvers, such as a spoon and wooden cup with decorations, a gnome, a funny sea monster, and a rooster on a branch, as well as custom-made human figures.
