How architecture relates to the building ground is a central question that is as old as the discipline itself. Even if the idea prevails that architecture is placed as objects in the landscape, in recent times various buildings have been created in which little or no distinction can be made between architecture and landscape, between object and earth. archithese spans an earthy arc between land art, landscape architecture and selected objects that are buried or patinated, or that imitate geological formations. We will knock on the doors of Michael Heizer's City, the largest sculpture ever realised, and Roden Crater, James Turell's perceptual object in the belly of an extinct volcano. At the same time, we will show current buildings that intersect with the topography, dig in or hollow out.
