Published by the DEFA Foundation and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Since 2003, cultural scientist Paul Werner Wagner has been interviewing renowned DEFA directors, screenwriters, actors and actresses about their lives and work, their greatest successes, but also the darker sides of their lives in front of and behind the camera.The interviews are always conducted with a view to the great upheaval of the epoch in 1989/90, which brought not only the end of the GDR's state film company but also major changes in the biographies of its protagonists. Together with journalist Hans-Dieter Schütt, Paul Werner Wagner has made a selection from the eyewitness interviews he conducted in the series Berliner MontagsDiskurs, DEFA-Filmküche in der Quchnia and Forum Kultur und Politik in Halle (Saale).
