Homeland is booming. Its omnipresence marks the background noise of societal legal developments. No term is as closely associated with the idea of the community as this one. It belongs to the right-wing and is merely a placeholder in a time when "blood and soil" can no longer be propagated so freely. What deserves negation is redirected by those "leftists" who notoriously refuse to leave even the last bit of dirt to the right. However, this alternative usage is often not so alternative: the confusion of humans with non-transplantable trees, the inescapable imprint of origin, the love for local government, customs, and the neighborhood pub, the fight against foreigners and the foreign, the aversion to the corrosive – all of this can also be found in the "leftist" homeland discourse. This book dissects its current manifestations and its affirmative authorities – such as Ernst Bloch, Kurt Tucholsky, Johannes R. Becher, or the supposed renewer of the homeland film, Edgar Reitz. The author does not hold back his hatred for "cosiness" in any way.
