Product details
This volume contains a new edition of a classic in Luther research. This book was first published in 1925 by Flamberg Verlag in Zurich and later by Koehler & Amelang in Leipzig in 1952. Its texts provide an excellent insight into Martin Luther's life, his development, and his work. From his academic teaching career, which took him from Leipzig, where he habilitated in 1898, to Bonn (1903) and Marburg (1912), and back to Leipzig (1915), his influence was understandably deepest and most lasting at his home university. Many of his listeners later recounted details and impressions from his lectures as if they had attended them just yesterday. Among them was an unusually large group of students from non-theological faculties, who sometimes attended Boehmer's church history course for entire semesters, captivated by the overwhelming breadth of his knowledge, his courage to express his own often sharp judgments, and his temperament, which was marked by earnestness and a sharp wit. Since there is no longer any copyright and this book is only available second-hand, I am reissuing it in two parts due to the length of the texts. From reviews: I am always thrilled with the Yellow Book series. The volumes simply captivate you. I have now acquired about 20 volumes and am always excited when a new book is released. Or: All the books published by Jürgen Ruszkowski are absolute highlights. This volume is no exception. Very interesting and varied topics from different historical periods that kept me engaged from the first to the last page! One can only marvel at what the man has already published in his retirement. Hats off!.
