Capital market speculation, particularly in foreign exchange trading, is becoming increasingly popular. Professional traders and amateurs alike are more frequently using market technical trading systems that can be relatively easily implemented. Although these systems are offered online by every reputable Forex broker, there are currently no scientifically grounded studies on the effectiveness of these trading instruments in terms of achieved speculative profits. Jonathan Hofmann examines the structure, functionality, and effectiveness of the most common trend-following and counter-cyclical trading system types. Based on historical price data, he determines the performance of the tested trading systems and highlights their individual strengths and weaknesses. The validity of the findings has been ensured through significance tests.
